The Chairlady's message from Christine Goff
As most of you are aware, I have recently taken up the chairman’s position within the club, and would like to see the club welcome old, young and new players, families and social members. I plan to work with both the playing side of the club as well as the social side.
At the present time i am very optimistic that Harwich & Dovercourt Cricket Club can re-build their squad of players to field all three teams to a level of cricket that we as a club have enjoyed in the past. We have a tremendous amount of talent coming through the youth teams and need to nurture these kids as they are the future of the club.
I am looking forward to attending as many junior and senior games as possible, and get the message across to all that we are a friendly family club. I would like everybody to feel that they play a part within the club. I would also like to see Harwich & Dovercourt Cricket Club back where it belongs in top class cricket, however this isn’t going to happen overnight, but I am confident that with the support of you all we will see a change for the better.
I as chairlady will always be willing to listen to any ideas, suggestions, grievances etc that any member may have and wish to bring to my attention. Each will if necessary be dealt with in strict confidence.
As you are aware this is a busy year being the celebration of the clubs Diamond Jubilee. As a club this is a big achievement and a time when we should all be proud to play for Harwich & Dovercourt Cricket Club as well as representing our town. There is alot planned for the celebration including the cricket week in July. We also have a busy social calendar and I would like to invite you all as members to attend these functions. Your support is needed to make each event a success, without these functions we cannot continue to purchase new equipment, pay for pitches, travel expenses and the general upkeep of the building. I would like to encourage families of the youth players into the club and make our club recognised as a caring friendly environment that we all want to be a part of.
With the season fast approaching it just leaves me to wish all the teams’ good luck for a successful, but more importantly an enjoyable season of cricket both on and off the field.
